Paying for Parenthood
Infertility treatment costs aren’t cheap, but assistance is available
For couples dealing with infertility, how they’ll pay for treatments is often near the top of their list of concerns. In one recent poll by the financing company, Attain Fertility, as many as 70% of those with infertility issues cite cost as the reason they have not sought treatment. While there’s no denying that infertility treatments are more expensive than many other procedures, help is available to make the dream of parenthood a reality.
At The Reproductive Medicine Group (RMG), we share our patient’s costs concerns. That’s why we work with each person to help find the right financial solution.
“We know how complicated it is to navigate insurance plans and financing options,” said Sandy Goodman, M.D. of The Reproductive Medicine Group. “That’s the reason we have staff members dedicated to assisting our patients throughout the financial process and our practice offers several different payment options.”
If you are covered by insurance, the first step is to determine what coverage your plan offers when it comes to fertility evaluation and treatment. In Florida, this coverage is not mandated, and varies depending on your insurance provider and even the plan you select.
The Reproductive Medicine Group website (www.floridafertility.com) offers a wealth of information and suggestions on questions to ask your provider or benefits manager. It’s important to get a written verification of benefits in order to keep from overpayment or incurring fees that are not covered by your plan.
Other fertility treatment payment options offered by RMG include a Global Fee for patients who decide not to use insurance and self pay for treatment. This selection helps to reduce the cost of an IVF cycle.
Loans are also an option for patients. The Reproductive Medicine Group is pleased to be partnered with ARC. ARC offers monthly payment plans for fertility treatments. If the patient doesn’t need the entire amount they financed, the patient may be entitled to a partial refund. Patients may also seek out loans on their own through a financial institution.
Another unique option is for qualifying female patients under the age of 33, who may choose to donate some of their oocytes to a recipient couple. This cuts down costs significantly, as both parties share IVF cycle fees.
Finally, a number of grants are offered by third-party organizations, and the staff at RMG is happy to share those resources with patients. Usually the application includes an essay.
We know that going through infertility treatment is stressful. That’s why we do everything possible to assist our patients so that they can concentrate on having the family they’ve dreamed about.
