Partners with patient organizer to offer courage, support to people struggling with infertility

The Reproductive Medicine Group (RMG) is please to be a sponsor of the inaugural Walk of Hope, slated to take place on October 3, 2015 at Contanchobee Park in Tampa. The event, organized by RESOLVE, the National Infertility Association, is one of a dozen, one-mile walks taking place across the nation to raise awareness of the one in eight couples and more than 7.3 million women who struggle with having a child.

Tampa resident and RMG patient, Jessica O’Connor, is spearheading the volunteer effort in Tampa Bay. The Reproductive Medicine Group is pleased to be a sponsor and is organizing a team made up of patients and staff.

“The walk is about bringing our entire community together, regardless of whether you are dealing with infertility,” said O’Connor, who underwent treatment with The Reproductive Medicine Group to conceive her first child. “It will remind people of the small steps we are taking in our journey, and that no one should walk alone while they seek treatment to have a child.”

“Women and men from all walks of life struggle with infertility,” said Dr. Sandy Goodman, of The Reproductive Medicine Group. “There are so many treatment options to assist those who dream of being parents. We’re happy to lend our support to help raise awareness of this very important issue.”

The day starts with check-in at 9 a.m. and a pre-walk stretch led by local fitness experts. At 10 a.m., walkers will begin their one-mile loop around the Channelside area. Post-event, the celebration starts with a bounce house for kids, D.J., a hair braiding station, snacks and awards for the top fundraisers. O’Connor hopes to raise $45,000 and funds from the Walk of Hope will be used to support local RESOLVE programming, and national public awareness and advocacy.
